Good To Be Back Home

Published by swoosh at 5:18 pm under Pre-Game Edit This

For the Warriors, it feels good to be back home even though they are playing a tough San Antonio Spurs team tonight.  I was unable to blog about the loss this past Saturday due to last minute things coming up, but despite the loss I am happy the team played for as long as they can.  They played a tough game the previous night before facing the Rockets, and I’m pleased with the effort they gave for the first half.  It was easy for me to see them fatigued and not having 1/4 of the roster healthy does not allow the Warriors to get some quality rest.

Warriors(15-33) VS Spurs(32-14)

Predictions

  • Yes, a Warrior win at home! (please!)
  • Duncan scores 20+ with 10+ rebounds
  • Parker gets a layup whenever he wants

The last two games, the Warriors showed that they can play some defense.  Now by doing this, they are sacrificing a little bit on the offensive end.  It seems as if they’re a little tired when they’re on O (missing open shots, easy layups, etc.) and this can be from working hard on the defensive end.  The Warriors can still put up points however, they just have to keep moving the ball around.  If they didn’t settle for so many jump shots against the Rockets and worked harder to get a good looking shot or a layup, maybe the outcome could have been different.  There should only be ISOs when there is a clear mismatch and not Jackson/Maggette going agianst Battier.

To win this game, the Warriors need to play with energy.  They got a day to rest, so their legs should be fresh.  The Warriors also need to rebound the ball and not let Duncan get easy put-backs. The Warrior backcrout must also keep Parker and Ginoboli in front of them and now allow easy layups or get sucked in and have them kick it out for an open 3.  Yes, its easy to say what they should do, but we all know it’s a lot harder acting it out.  The Warrior Bigs should not have a problem with fouls, however I expect Turiaf to come up with some big blocks tonight.

Keys to the game

  • Play with energy
  • Box out Duncan
  • Stay in front of Parker
